As Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer introduces legislation to give the multicolored Pride flag the same distinction as the U.S. flag, military flags, POW/MIA flags, and others recognized by Congress, he is reportedly doing so in reaction to the Trump administration’s removal of the Pride flag from a national monument outside the Stonewall Inn where this clash with LGBTQ sin broke out into the open in the 1960s. Only it wasn’t LGBTQ back then. It was only G.

I have yet to understand why homosexual men are called “gay,” It has never been appropriate for me to refer to them as if they are the ‘happy’ people when in fact they fail to accept creation the way God made it. That is not gay. It is sad. Perhaps ‘gay’ no longer means what it used to mean though, which would be a sad loss to the English vocabulary.

Other words and terms have suffered the same fate. At the mouth of those to whom good has become ‘evil’ and evil has become ‘good’. The U.S. Constitution has not been spared this deadly confusion of the twisting of words away from the original intent. As with the English language, parts of the Constitution have been twisted by those sloppy with its intent. The Bible has been attacked as well, by those unwilling to face its consequences for sin. Some of the twisting is in print but mostly in what is meant by the printed word.

I am, and have been, fascinated by the printed page from the time learning to read opened up a world of new and fascinating vistas to this heretofore mostly farm-bound (fortunately so) little schoolboy. I learned that those clumped-together letters had so much meaning that they could transport me, in my imaginative brain, to places I had never been. Which is still the case. Though I’ve had the privilege to travel extensively, many are the places that I’ve only visited in my dreams. My memory has served me well and somehow the brain deciphers which memories are actual and which only happened in the reading of them. Your brains, and mine, are a marvel of God’s creation.

Mr. Schumer, if indeed he has any belief at all, does not believe in the same Bible as I do. Consistently accepted Bible translations, including my King James version, all condemn same-sex sexual relations. Body mutilations are only practiced by demonic heathen cultures. I suppose ‘queer’ covers any other kind of sexual deviations that the Bible condemns but the Left celebrates. It strikes all my senses that the Left, having removed the Bible from public (and private?) life, glory in what they should be ashamed of. Even celebrate it. Then fling it all at this nation’s citizens, especially the children who are most vulnerable, and then strut about belligerently as if ‘they’ had won the argument. They argue against God.

When Joe Biden invited that mixed (and messed up) group of young people identifying as L or G or B or T or Q to the White House in the 3rd  year of his tenure in celebration of what the Left has designated as if it were Pride month (June) he was giving recognition to the June Stonewall riots of 1969. Those riots mark the ending of government intrusions into the sexual preferences of those dissatisfied with God’s creation and the beginning of tolerance for such behavior. Tolerance quietly moved into acceptance during Clinton’s eight years in office, to the recognition of same-sex marriages in the Obama era, to the aforementioned LGBTQ celebration at the White House – the citadel of the free world – under Joe Biden who, as president, certainly did a lot of damage to this country in other ways, but doing moral  damage to America by hanging a Pride flag next to America’s Stars and Stripes – for a day of celebration with perverts – has to be his crowning achievement in perverting the national conscience. Minority leader Schumer is attempting to keep that trajectory on track for the next step, full recognition and honor for a flag honoring perverts.

It is possibly the crowning achievement of irony that the very people doing despite to creation, as God designed it, then do an about-face, take to themselves a part of God’s creation (the rainbow) and twist its meaning to despise a vital and the most personal part of God’s creation. ‘Be not deceived, God is not mocked…’ (Galatians 6:7) God’s patience eventually runs out. (Genesis 6:3)

Very possibly the most misused and abused word in the English language is the word love. God is love. Love is of God. The New Testament, especially, is about that message of love, butmovies misuse the word on a regular basis from what I remember. Lusting men and lustful women misuse the word. ‘I love you’ we say, and then promptly go about proving otherwise. Because love is not about what we can get, it is about what we can give.

God, in Christ, showed us clearly for all time and eternity what love means as He defines it. I love you, He said and then came to show us the way home. I love you, He said as he taught the tenets for living a life with meaning, value, and purpose. I love you, He said as nails were driven through his hands and his feet. I love you, He said as he died on the cross. I love you, He said as He rose again. I love you, He said as He ascended to heaven. I love you, He says still as He awaits the proper time. ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.’ (John 3:16)

God gave. God defines love. Love is not a taker. Love is a giver. When two people take, there is nothing left. When two people give there is abundance for both to receive. God’s way matters.                                                                                                                                        Life Matters!
