Life Matters - October 1, 2025

If anarchy – a lawless freedom without government, being a rebellion against any and all authority – is the desperate roar of a purposeless life; then nihilism – a doctrine that denies any objective ground of truth – is its last gasp.

It is in the throes of that last gasp that these directionless rebellious anarchists do as much damage as possible on their way out. Whether it be with guns, ramming vehicles, swinging knives, or by other means. Though not all are immediately taken out, these people all have a few things in common; being deceived by the devil that meaningless destruction (nihilism) is preferable to going on living life as it is. All are anarchists against the authority of God and the authorities He has allowed into positions of power. I believe I can say that by the authority of God’s Word.

By the authority of God’s Word, Love and Truth are inseparable, we cannot have one without the other. It is when we accept God’s Truth in our hearts and minds that His Love can also overwhelm and comfort us, as His Love is sensed, as we sense His acceptance through the redemption and grace of Jesus Christ. Our Lord Jesus Christ will be our Mediator as we cease to defend our own case before the court of God’s throne, cease claiming our own righteousness, repent, and come to Him for the Way, the Truth, and the Life. His Life is Love. God is Love. (I John 4:8)

Truth has been under attack in America for decades. The slowly unfolding, but massive smoke-bomb that was Darwin’s publication of The Origin of Species, in 1859, has spread a black cloud of confusion over the West in general and has enabled attacks against the founding principles of America’s founding document; The Constitution of the United States of America.

Torching a building, a flag, a Constitution, firing a gun, ramming a vehicle, or plunging a knife into somebody, is momentarily easier than constructing a building, cutting out and sewing a flag, hashing out the beliefs and sentence structures of a Constitution, or building up on the most holy faith. (Jude 20) The former being destructive and the latter being productive, the former needs no vision, no purpose nor ideas, no appreciation for truth, and very little effort; while the latter requires vision, purpose, ideas, seeking out truth, and a lot of effort. The latter becomes increasingly purposeful, a visionary with goals. The former becomes increasingly purposeless, mentally unhinged, a depressed and easy target for brainwashing by unhinged politicians, if not by the devil himself.

The Theory of Evolution has been hard on Christian faith and its proliferation. It was, and is, a direct, a militant attack on a core tenet of Christianity, that of God being our Creator and it following that we are then responsible; accountable to His precepts, subject to His judgements while here and subject to His ultimate Judgement at the end of time.

From time immemorial, that knowledge of God has put a check on mankind’s lower nature, a check on his baser instincts. It put a check on decisions made by feelings alone and brought the weight of decision-making into the realm of: what does God think? This question; what does God think? – or as popularized in the 20th century; what would Jesus do? – seems as if it were bondage to some, but actually is the most liberating place anyone can be as it liberates one to accepting truth, to facing reality. It leads to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ our Lord and only Savior and His connecting love. It frees one to love the disagreeable as well as those who agree, because we know truth is objective, it is not subjective to any of our feelings, and to hear someone disagree with truth is no longer a personal threat. Truth may quickly escalate into a personal threat to those in opposition to it because when one opposes Truth he or she has nowhere to turn to except feelings. When inflamed emotions are trusted they can escalate quickly in those resisting Truth.

Tyler Robinson, the young man who turned himself in to authorities (upon the urging of his upright parents) as the killer of Charlie Kirk, was one who set himself in opposition to the truth as presented by Mr. Kirk. He couldn’t win a debate so he slew his opponent with a gun. Not only did he prove himself to be an enemy of Truth but also an enemy of Love and as such, an enemy of God. The investigation and the trial are ongoing but Tyler has proven his anarchy against God by being ‘in a relationship’ with a boy roommate attempting to transition into a girl.

The bondage of believing in a vague something called ‘emotional orientation’ eventually leads one into the basest of unsanctified human instincts and into blindness to the harm it is doing to one’s soul. When we reject our body we reject and rebel against a part of God’s creation. In so doing, or by affirming another doing so to him or herself, we rebel against God.

I am thankful to God for the national and international response to the assassination of Charlie Kirk. God, with His ultimate authority, can take horrific events meant for evil and stir praise and worship in with the heartbreak. The outpouring of love in the midst of tragedy is heartwarming. As is the revival this tragedy has triggered.
