Life Matters - May 13, 2026
Before mainstream media journalists doubled as political activists I remember wishing (as a sincere youngster) that the wrongs they reported on a daily basis were more than just statedfacts but that they would also use their access to newspaper reporting for the righting of wrongs. I struggled with the emotionless factual reporting of who allegedly killed whom, of car wrecks without telling us who was at fault, of political disagreements on Capitol Hill with no hint of who was right and who was wrong.
On the subject of emotionless factual reporting one might refute by bringing up Walter Cronkite’s emotion-packed reporting on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. I heard of Cronkite after the fact as I was only 3½ years old on that fateful November day. But such emotional reporting was the exception, not the rule, and the nation identified with, and respected, Mr. Cronkite’s sorrow at the tragic loss of our President.
Reporting by mainstream outlets has been shifting since those days, as journalists use their varied platforms to influence public opinion, and in the case of one Donald J. Trump, Leftist journalist activists have allowed their opinions (or perhaps the opinions of DEI bosses and peers) to solidify into an outward and coordinated attempt to defame, through denigrating and negative-slanted coverage, whether overtly or covertly, our duly elected President. And still he keeps on giving his time, energy, and skills, for the country he loves and for the citizens of it.
The negative activist reporting has taken a sinister turn to the Left since the first term of Trump and has not abated since. I had hoped that after the Butler, Pennsylvania, assassination attempt there would be a widespread repentance in the liberal media and in the liberal sides of both chambers of Congress, but I hoped in vain. (the Left only quieted for a few weeks) I hoped in vain upon the second attempt. I hoped in vain upon the third. I hoped in vain when Charlie Kirk was murdered in an open forum by an assassin’s bullet. The negativity, if anything, has only intensified.
I also hoped in vain about the Iran war reporting, before it took yet another sinister turn to the Left, before it could even now pass for a propaganda arm of Iran’s murderous regime. Left-wing media and other politicians are deafeningly silent about the 10s of 1000s of Iranian citizens killed by their own government in January of 2026 and just as deadly noisy about any casualties or failures (whether imagined or real) of U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran. If one didn’t keep his head on straight the cognitive dissonance of complaining Leftist U.S. citizensrooting for a Jihadi Islamic regime (under which, if they relocated there, they would do so at the peril of their own lives, limbs, property, and freedom to complain) would keep one’s head rotating in spiritual vertigo if one were to let go of it.
Even a friendly dog may bite the hand that feeds and takes care of it when it is reacting to its own pain. So, it pays to be cautious and to take protective measures when helping an injured dog.
If I were to judge by all the biting going on these days and in the past decade, there are a lot of injured (whether imagined or real) people on the Left side of the political spectrum. Yellow hair causes pain, I seem to hear them say, so if you see yellow hair; bite! And so the biting continues.
‘’Liberal women support Islam and not Christianity.’ – Mrs. Andrew Wilson. Liberal men do as well, even as they claim to support all things women. Despite Iran’s clerical government pushing for Sharia law everywhere, which treats women as property who’s primary role in life were to keep the urges of their husband’s loins under control through coitus and those urges under control in other men by being covered in public from head, and face, to foot. The cognitive dissonance overall is staggering as all responsibility to keep men from sexual sins is placed on women even as the men are allowed to pillage in war (Quran 8:1, 8:41, 8:69, 48:20) and to ‘wed’ ‘those whom your right hands possess’, (Quran 4:23) commonly understood by Jihadis to be the ‘infidel’ women captured from men defeated in battle.
I have given up all youngster hope of having mainstream journalists pointing us to the truth of any matter considered newsworthy by them. Which brings us to the rest of the story. The story of Truth. The story that began in Bethlehem of old. The foretelling of that quiet and holy night had been recorded for thousands of years. Prophecies that came to quiet fruition in the stillness of night continued for 30 years in the bright light of day. The Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ continues the softening and warming of hearts to this day.
The softening and warming of hearts has fallen into disfavor with a dissatisfied faction of chaotic humanity who have come to the end of the road in search of meaning through sensuality. And at the end of the road a religion shows itself that promises release for carnal passions on the one hand and self-righteous feelings clothed in robes and hijabs on the other. Coupled with the self-righteous feelings of pseudo-socialism (the forerunner of communism) the temptation is proving seductive to many Leftist thinkers as the warming softness of the Gospel message is rejected and consequentially the soft glow of common-sense thinking fades away into the dark night of unbelief.
The sun has been setting in the West for decades. But the light shines brightest in the dark. ‘’Let your light so shine…” Life Matters!
